Wozniacki wins the Australian Open!

Fantastic news for Caroline Wozniacki’ s fans as the Dane has finally won her first slam in Melbourne and she is back to be the new world no.1 after 6 years.

Caroline risked going down as one of the best players ever not to have won a slam. She has been world no. 1 for 67 weeks and she had already 27 titles in her pocket. Finally, Caroline managed to win her first major today against a very combative Simona Halep and following a fantastic fight.

Caroline seemed to be in firm control of the match after she won the opener at the breaker with Simona Halep always chasing her (the Romanian was 2-5 down). Soon after things got even worse for Simona that looked to be completely dizzy, but the Romanian managed to stay in the match to win the second set and be one break up in the 3rd (4-3).

Eventually, everything ended up in a dogfight, and it was Caroline to win the last 3 games and clinch the match. The final score was 7-6 (2) 3-6 6-4.

FINALLY CAROLINE!
