Kiki Mladenovic and Timea Babos are the 2018 champions at the Australian Open in doubles.
This is a fantastic news especially for Kiki that has lost the last 14 matches in singles and she really needed an injection of optimism.
Kiki and Timea defeated Vesnina and Makarova in the final 6-4 6-3. After the match, a visibly emotional Mladenovic busted into tears.
Mladenovic and Babos resumed their partnership after ending it following the 2015 WTA finals.
“We started again after two years off, and to start with a win here in Australia is an incredible feeling,” Babos commented during the ceremony. “I was in tears, for sure, and it’s just amazing to play with you.”
Great stuff!
