Halep demolished Osaka even if she didn’t sleep!

Simona Halep is having an interesting run at this Australian Open.

The world no.1 was the clear favorite to win the Australian Open after triumphing in Shenzhen and displaying a great form

Things got sideways for Simona after she twisted her ankle in the 1st round against Destanee Aiava and later in the 3rd round when she defeated Lauren Davis after an epic 4-6 6-4 15-13 that lasted 3 hours and 44 minutes.

In the 4th round, Simona defeated Naomi Osaka 6-3 6-2, but she revealed something interesting after the match.

I didn’t sleep last night. HALEP

The Romanian was devastated from a physical point of view after her match against the American, and she was struggling to recover to comment

“Last night was really tough.

I couldn’t sleep. I had pain everywhere. But I slept before the match two hours, and I was fresh after that. I felt good. The ankle is still sore. But I’m not thinking about that anymore. I saw that I can win matches with it, so now I’m not that worried anymore.”

Next vs. Pliskova

Simona will face Karolina Pliskova in the quarters. The head to head is 5-1 for Halep (3-0 on hard courts).
