Fantastic Kyrgios beats Tsonga

Nick Kyrgios plays an extremely solid match to edge an in-form Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Australian Open 3rd round.

Nick was 100% committed to having a good performance against one of his childhood heroes. Eventually, the only difference between Nick and the Frenchman was how they played in the crucial moments, and it was Kyrgios that managed to win all 3 breakers to conquer the match with a tight 7-6 (5) 4-6 7-6 (6) 7-6 (5) scoreline.

After this match, the head to head between Kyrgios and Tsonga is 1-all.

I have never won a match in this court. KYRGIOS

Nick was visibly happy with his win to comment

“It was amazing. I’ve never won a match on this court before but playing Jo; I was obviously very nervous.

He was a guy I looked up to as a kid, still do, he’s a great guy. I’m just so happy to get through. I was getting prepared for the fifth set in that (4th set tiebreaker). I thought he was going to hit two big first serves, and I was in a lot of trouble, but I stayed composed, tied to make some returns and fight it out.”

Next vs. Dimitrov

Nick will face Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the quarters. The head to head is 2-1 for Dimitrov, but the Australian won their last match 13 days ago in the Brisbane semifinal. Probably Nick will be the favorite to win that match.

HAPPY!
