Tough day for Jelena Ostapenko that had to work hard to reach the 3rd round at the Australian Open. The Latvian was opposed to the world no.100 Ying-Ying Duan that proved to be a very tough customer.
After exchanging the first 2 sets, everything went down to the decider. Eventually, the couple was locked on a 4-4 scoreline, but it was Jelena to find the final spring to conquer the last 2 games and win the match 6-3 3-6 6-4.

Jelena was impressed with the performance of her opponent to say
“She was hitting the ball really hard. Everyone wants to beat you when you’ve won a Grand Slam so I’ll just keep trying my best.”
Next vs. Kontaveit
Jelena will face Anett Kontaveit in the next round. They have never played each other so far.
