Federer – Murray is the dream final of the 2012 Wimbledon edition

This is a super dream final!!!

Somebody is going to write history on Sunday. Federer can win his 7th Wimbledon (to match Sampras’ record), he can get his 17th slam (to improve  his own record) and he can become world no.1 again to equal (and then beat the week after) Sampras’ record of 286 weeks on top of the ATP rankings (Roger is just 1 week shy). Murray can be the first British man to win Wimbledon in 76 years. Wow.

Let’s have a look at the semis.

FEDERER – DJOKOVIC 6-3 3-6 6-4 6-3

Roger was too strong for Nole. There were many combinations playing in his favour. First the match was on grass, second it was indoor (it was raininf), third Nole is not as “fresh” as last year, forth it wasn’t Djokovic’s day at all.

It took 2 hours and 19 minutes for Roger to wrap up the match. “The surface made the match different in my favour,” said Federer, “It doesn’t make it as physical, it’s more explosive, I was able to be very aggressive.”

“I have missed being in the final here the last couple of years,” added Roger , “so it’s great. But ‘m aware the tournament is not over. I didn’t break down crying and fall to my knees and think I’ve achieved what I wanted.”

Nole showed once again his immense sportmanship “Look, if he wins and becomes No. 1 it’s going to be well deserved,” said the Serb. “He’s played fantastic this year. He’s been so consistent. If he wins, he wins. There’s nothing I can do about it. The best player will win this tournament. I’m out.

MURRAY – TSONGA 6-3 6-4 3-6 7-5

It took 4 sets also for Andy to defeat Tsonga and to reach the dream final.

“It’s tough to explain. It’s a bit of relief and excitement,” said Murray “I started the match really well but one loose game let him back in. It was so close in the last two sets.

“He was hitting some unbelievable winners and had break points at 4-4, but I managed to hang tough there and win it. It was an emotional end to the match.”

Head to head is 8-7 for Murray, but Federer leads 2-0 in Grand Slams (without dropping a set with the Scott). They have never played on the grass.
