Shapovalov wins opener in 56 minutes in Auckland

Denis Shapovalov had fond memories of his only match he played against Rogerio Dutra Silva. In fact, back in August 2017, Denis defeated the Brazilian in the Montreal first round after saving 4 match points.

Thing got much easier at the ASB Classic in Auckland where the Canadian had to face Rogerio again in the 1st round. Denis was in absolute control since the very beginning to win the match 6-3 6-2 in 56 minutes.

The Canadian was just too good in every department to break his opponent 3 times without conceding a single break point.

Next vs. Del Potro

In a sort of a copy-and-paste of the 2017 Rogers Cup, Denis will face Juan Martin Del Potro in the 2nd round after defeating Dutra Silva.

The head to head is 1-0 for Shapovalov that in Montreal defeated Del Potro 6-3 7-6 (4).
