Simona Halep starts her 2018 in the best possible way after winning the title at the Shenzhen Open.
The final was a thriller also because after 6 hours of rain delay was moved indoors. Eventually, after a long wait, the world no.1 defeated the defending champion Katerina Siniakova 6-1 2-6 6-0 after a real roller coaster that ended after 72 minutes (that’s pretty quick for a 3-setter).
After this match the head to head between Halep and Siniakova is 1-all.
This is Simona’s 16th career title and it’s a huge confidence boost for the upcoming Australian Open.
The Romanian is also in the final in doubles partnering with her friend and compatriot Irina-Camelia Begu.
Yes, that’s a rather good start of the season.
No stream but we can imagine that she smiled like this. Simona beats KateÅ™ina Siniaková to win the 16th title of her career and the 1st title of the year, 6-1, 2-6, 6-0!! ðŸ˜ðŸŽ‰ #ShenzhenOpen pic.twitter.com/oZrVtBAQqf
