Dimitrov impresses with sportsmanship in Brisbane

Grigor Dimitrov has always been one of the most admired players not only for his great tennis, but also for his fantastic sportsmanship. The Bulgarian did something exceptional when playing the quarters at the Brisbane International against Kyle Edmund.

What happened?

Grigor was fighting hard against the Brit that was playing probably the best tennis of his career. After exchanging the first 2 sets, the pair was battling on a 4-all scoreline in the decider when Kyle fell down on the court after he twisted his ankle. Even if the match was well over the 2 hours’ mark and the competition was extremely “hot,” Dimitrov didn’t hesitate to jump over the net and rush in his opponent’s court to help him to recover.

Eventually, Grigor won this match 6-3 6-7 (3) 6-4, but the encounter will be remembered for his Grigor’s sportsmanship.

The semis vs. Kyrgios

The world no.3 is now 2 steps away from defending his title and win his 9 tournament.

The Bulgarian will face Nick Kyrgios in the semifinal. The head to head is 2-0 for Dimitrov that has recently defeated Kyrgios in the final in Cincinnati.
