Being in a fantastic place in Thailand during the off-season is already great. Pocketing a fantastic prize money for playing 4 smooth sets is even better!
Simona Halep started the new season in the best possible way after she won the World Tennis Thailand Championship in Hua Hin. There were 4 top10 players competing in the exhibition. In fact, besides Simona, the Czech Karolina Pliskova, the WTA No. 4, Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, ranked No. 7, and British Johanna Konta ranked No. 9 took part in the event.
The Romanian won the competition after she dismissed Konta 6-3 6-3 before beating Karolina Pliskova 6-2 6-3 in the final.
Halep pocketed UD$800 while all players combined took home $2 million.
That was a good one!
