23-year-old Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov is not having a fantastic season with a 20-20 win-loss record. Karen has been struggling with his results after he triumphed last year in Bercy to often crash out in the opening rounds in 2019. However, there is a lot to cheer for him as Karen has most recently celebrated becoming a father.
Veronika’s first impression
Khachanov and his wife Veronika Shkliaeva married in April 2016. The young couple had dated for a long time and had known each other since childhood. He has previously revealed that he did not make a very good impression on her wife when the two first met at a young age. “I have known Veronika since 8 years old, but I didn’t make a good first impression. We met at the airport. I was playing with a baggage cart and hit her. She told her mother: ‘What an idiot!’” They would, however, get more acquainted and after dating through their teenage years, they decided to tie the knot in their early twenties.
Baby boy
Karen had earlier revealed that he and Veronika were expecting a child, and while she was not nervous, she would not be attending the majority of his matches. “My wife Veronika is not particularly nervous, but probably she will no longer be able to fly with me to tournaments. We are waiting for the child in September.” The child finally arrived this month and on 15th September, Khachanov posted a picture on Instagram holding the baby’s adorable feet with the caption “#BabyBoy’. His fans and followers on Instagram congratulated him and wished him well.

Next Generation
Khachanov is set to play at the St. Petersburg open as he tries to capture his first title as a father. He will hope that he can improve his results for the season after quarter-final appearances at the Roland Garros and Indian Wells tournaments this year. Karen has won 4 ATP singles titles in his career. He is coached by Vedran Martic and currently resides in Dubai. He is one of the players viewed as most promising to dominate the game after perennial challengers Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic put down their tennis rackets. The Russian is the second new-generation player to become a father with the first being Taylor Fritz.
