Being the world no.1 is extremely important, but fans are also seeking something more than a “mere” rank.
Forbes came out with an interesting (and very subjective) list of the most enjoyable players to watch. Surprisingly enough it wasn’t Roger Federer to lead the pack, but Nick Kyrgios that Forbes compares to John McEnroe. King Roger was “only” rated no. 2, just before Denis Shapovalov. At 18 year of age, the upcoming Canadian has already delighted the tennis fans with incredible shot makings, and he could be a fans’ favorite in the years to come.
Rafael Nadal was only placed as number 4 as he was “penalized” for his “lengthy rituals.” Dustin Brown was then ranked no.5 (but it’s difficult to conceive a more spectacular player), just before Gael Monfils, and Grigor Dimitrov.
