Nick Kyrgios has always stated that he likes to help people and he is a man that is keeping his word.
The upcoming Australian accepted a long-haul return trip to Argentina to play Juan Martin Del Potro in an exhibition to then funnel the money ($100,000) to his charitable foundation for underprivileged Australian youth.
Why Nick is doing this
During a recent interview, Kyrgios commented
“I always had the motivation to help others. Using that as a motor for my career, I think it will give me more motivation than playing just for Nick Kyrgios.
That’s whether it was signing up in doubles tournaments when I was a junior to help a friend who had a lower ranking, so he could play it, or doing it now with friends in ATP tournaments, or sharing my room with friends or players who cannot afford the expense.
I always liked to help, and I do not expect a pat on the back for that. I do it because I want to and because I am in the position to do it, but never for public recognition.”
Eventually, Nick lost 6-4 4-6 6-2, but that was not the point.
That’s a noble purpose. Well done!
WELL DONE NICK!
