Terrible stuff for Rafa.
The Spaniard looked uncomfortable the whole match to suffer from an incredible loss to Rosol.
The match was quirky from the very beginning with Rafa winning the first set “only” at the tiebreak (11-9). Then the Czech started to play a wonderful tennis that was not typical for a player with such a low rank to win the next 2 sets 6-4 6-4.
Then they had to close the roof at the Cente Court when the score was 2 sets all. Rafa was continously complaining about this decision that was clearly helping Rosol’s aggressive style. There was something uncomfortable for the world no.2 that finally lost the 5th set 6-4.
“I never expected something like this,” Rosol said. “I am very sorry for him but I hope I can play one more match like this. I played my best match ever. It means so much for me.”
Finally Rosol won only 2 points more than Rafa (139 to 137), but he blasted 65 winners against Rafa’s 41.
