Federer took a big risk, but he was right. NADAL

Roger Federer had a fantastic 2017 after winning 7 titles (2 slams, 3 ATP1000, and 2 ATP500).

The Swiss took a rather brave decision not to play “too much” during the season to also skip the entire clay court swing. Eventually, Roger was right with that even if according to his biggest rival, Rafael Nadal, that was a big risk.

Why it was a big risk

During a recent interview, the Mallorcan commented

“He had a fantastic year. What he did is very difficult. Playing so less, being able to win almost every time you return to play is a very big risk.

When it goes well, it seems it’s right, but in truth, it’s very difficult that it happens the way it did. If you try it again, you may not be as successful as you were this year. But well, I am 31, and he’s 36. I have my career, and he has his own.

I do what I believe is better for me by always getting help from doctors, coaches, physical trainers, and deciding with my team. Together we come to an agreement that is better for my body and tennis.”

Rafa ended his year as the deserving world no.1, therefore… he also got the right decisions.

A GOOD ONE ROGER
