Federer awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Basel

Roger Federer has achieved the impossible in his career after winning 95 titles, 19 slams and he has broken countless records. The Swiss Maestro is a living legend not only around the world but also and especially in his own country…. and his city.

The doctorate and why he received the honor

The medical faculty of the University of Basel awarded Roger the honorary doctorate for his role of increasing the reputation of Basel (where Federer was born) and Switzerland. The tennis legend received the award also for encouraging people around the world of being more active and for the work done by his foundation for the children in Africa.

Federer’s reaction

Roger was not able to be present at the ceremony, but he released a nice video stating that this doctorate made him just as happy as a Grand Slam.

Legend.
