Murray splits with Lendl

Andy Murray and Ivan Lendl decided not to partner anymore in 2018.

Andy and Ivan enjoyed a fantastic partnership in 2 different moments: first, from 2012 to 2014 when the Scot won Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Gold Medal; second, in 2016 and 2017 when Andy won his second Wimbledon, his second Gold Medal and he ended the year as the world no.1.

In 2017 things got sideways for Murray that has been plagued with a hip injury to miss the second part of the season. Eventually, Andy and Ivan decided not to continue their working relationship in 2018.

From Murray

Andy released the following statement

“I’m thankful to Ivan for his help and guidance over the years. We’ve had great success and learned a lot as a team. My focus now is on getting ready for Australia with the team I have in place and getting back to competing.”

From Lendl

Ivan commented

“I wish Andy well. We had a great run and a lot of fun.”

That was a good (and probably final) on.

THAT WAS A GOOD ONE
