Dimitrov demolishes Goffin to qualify for the London semis

Grigor Dimitrov keeps his dream alive.

The Bulgarian sensation is having a breakthrough year after he won his first ATP1000 in Cincinnati, he broke in the top10, and he qualified for the ATP Finals. This feat is not enough for Grigor that has now qualified for the final 4 in London after he defeated Thiem in the first match and on Wednesday he demolished David Goffin 6-0 6-2.

The match vs. Goffin

The contest against the Belgian was one-way traffic. Goffin wasn’t himself, and he was probably struggling physically and mentally after two days before he won an epic against Nadal. Things looked ominous from the very beginning for Goffin that was 0-6 0-3 down in a blink of an eye. When everything was pointing to an embarrassing double bagel (6-0 6-0), the world no.8 found the strengths to win a couple of games before Dimitrov won the contest 6-0 6-2 in 73 minutes.

I played a great match. DIMITROV

Soon after winning the contest, the Bulgarian commented

“I think clearly I played a great match today. I think my focus was very good. I started the match well. I was using every opportunity. I took care of all of the balls that I had to. I won the most important points, especially in the first set.”

Grigor has now joined Federer in the semifinals where he will probably face either Sock or Zverev.

Dimitrov has still to play Pablo Carreno Busta in the last match of his round Robin.
