Federer dismisses Sock in straight sets

Mission accomplished for Roger Feeder that defeats Jack Socks 6-4 7-6 (3) in his first match at the Finals.

Even if the difference between Roger and Jack was only 1 break, the Swiss was massively superior “in the games” to finally win 81 points vs. Sock’s 68. Federer was not 100% efficient in converting his break points (1 of 6), and that is what makes the result look close. The Swiss didn’t concede a single break point on his serve.

Now I am on full steam. FEDERER

Roger skipped the ATP1000 in Paris, and he took a prolonged break after winning the tournament in Basel to “heal his body.” Talking about his “comeback,” Roger commented

“I’m happy that I was able to come out today and had actually good energy,” Federer said. “This is the best I’ve felt since the Del Potro final (in Basel). I’m very happy to see that I didn’t have to pay the price for taking it easy and resting and recovering. But then turning it up the last few days got me in shape for today. Now I think I’m in the tournament. There’s no more turning back. Just full steam ahead every match that comes.”

After this straight sets win Roger leads his group as Sascha Zverev defeated Marin Cilic in the other match of the group (6-4 3-6 6-4).

Roger will play Sascha in his second match.
