The Next Gen Finals have introduced a wealth of new rules (probably too many) that may be adopted by the other tournaments.
The big surprise is that according to The Times Wimbledon and the “other slams” may introduce some new rules as follows.
“A shot clock, in-match coaching and a reduction in the number of seeds from 32 to 16 are among reforms to be discussed by the Wimbledon Championships and the other three grand-slam tournaments in London next week. The All England Club takes pride in maintaining the traditions of the sport but has realized in recent months that it may fall behind the other grand slams if it refuses to adopt some innovations.”
Regarding the shot clock, the actual rule at the majors is that the players should spend no more than 20 seconds in between serves, this limit should be changed to 25 seconds. The coaching may be done in a more “traditional way” on court like it is already done on the WTA circuit.
The representatives all of the slams will have a discussion next week in London.
