How about the WTA Next Gen Finals?

The ATP Next Gen Finals did not start off on the right foot with their dubious bracket selection ceremony using models. There are already questions about the future of this new event. Before that is decided, here’s something to consider, the WTA Next Gen Finals?

Hopefully, the ATP Next Gen will work because it is a sound idea despite the rough start this year. The WTA Next Gen doesn’t have to be a substitute but at least a good addition to the year-end tennis events. It should have been in the works anyway.

Based on the same criteria of the ATP Next Gen Finals which is aged 21 and under in the Top 200, the WTA line up would be:

Besides Jelena Ostapenko, the French Open champion, not a lot of household names, much like the ATP’s lineup. And for good measure, there is Catherine Bellis, a rising American player, for the U.S. audience.

Although the ATP version got off to a questionable start, the basic idea is good and so would the WTA adaption. And both would be beneficial for the future of tennis.

HAPPY TO COMPETE IN THAT?
