Rublev, Chung amaze the crowd in Milan

The Next Gen Finals are maintaining the expectations.

After a quirky start with a rather controversial opening ceremony, the top juniors in the world fought some interesting battles in the round robins.

Probably Hyeon Chung and Andrey Rublev are the ones that have attracted more attention.

Chung

The South Korean had an amazing run in the round-robin to win all matches even against Rublev and Shapovalov that were considered the hot favorites. He will now face Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal.

Even if Andrey has lost a “bad match” against Chung in the round-robin 4-0 4-1 4-3 (3), he impressed in the other two matches against home favorite Gianluigi Quinzi and Denis Shapovalov. The match against the Canadian was quite interesting also for the fact that only the winner would have qualified for the semifinal. Eventually, the Russian kept his nerves and he won the match with an “epic” 4-1 3-4 (8) 4-3 (2) 0-4 4-3 (3) score to reach the final 4 where he will face Borna Coric.
