Despite the defeat, Fritz emphasized the positives of his week, noting the difficult matches he overcame to reach the championship round. “Yeah, I mean it was a great week for me. Obviously, I got through a lot of tough matches and I’m happy to be here playing today in the finals,” he said.

He had an insane schedule this week playing half matches one day, finishing the other day, playing another match that night, waiting around all day. It’s deserved and it speaks to the kind of player he is. He’s an amazing competitor,” Fritz remarked, acknowledging his opponent’s determination.

The American highlighted the quality of the Stuttgart event, expressing gratitude to those who make it possible. “Thank you to all the organizers, the ball kids, everyone that’s making this tournament possible. I mean it. This is such an incredible tournament. It’s done so well. The players love coming here. I love coming here. I really enjoy it,” Fritz stated, underlining the tournament’s reputation among players.

Fritz also recognized the efforts of his team in helping him return to form after a challenging year. “It’s been quite a long road this year to just get me back on the court playing healthy, and they have to put up with a lot with me sometimes. Thanks to them for sticking with it and getting me back to this point now where I’m playing good tennis and feeling healthy,” he said.

There’s some days where the weather wasn’t great, but I felt like the support all week was amazing. The energy all week is amazing, especially in the finals today. It was great,” he concluded.
