Italy wins the 2010 Fed Cup

There is a love affair between Italy and the Fed Cup.
In 5 years the Italian team managed to win 3 titles (2006, 2009 and 2010).
The last come after a solid performance against the US Team.
On Day 1, Francesca Schiavone beat Vandeweghe 6/2 6/4, and Flavia Pennetta beat Bethanie Mattek-Sands 7/6(4) 6/2.
On Day 2 Melanie Oudin had an easy win with the 2010 Roland Garros winner  Schiavone( 6/3 6/1), but Pennetta got the victory with a smooth 6/1 6/2 win over Vandeweghe.
An elated Corrado Barazzuti (the Italian Captain) stated: ‘In five years, we have won three Fed Cups and this is a fantastic team’ . ‘I’m a very lucky captain. I am proud of them but it’s easy to be captain
of this team because they are very strong’
