How a bad injury helped me to win the WTA Finals. WOZNIACKI

Caroline Wozniacki has just won the most prestigious trophy of her amazing career after she edged Venus Williams 6-4 6-4 in the Singapore final.

The Dane is now reflecting on her success and what was important for her to win the Finals.

Being injured helped me. WOZNIACKI

Caroline had a nasty injury to her ankle at the beginning of 2016, and she had to take a 10-week hiatus from tennis. Her comeback was also rather complicated, and Caroline’s rank went as low as to no.74 at the end of August last year. Eventually, the former world no.1 found her way back to the top to win the Finals and be ranked no.3 (and just a few points from the world no.1.

During a recent interview, Wozniacki admitted that the injury was essential for her to step back and find new energies to achieve new heights.

“I strongly believe everything happens for a reason and maybe I wouldn’t be here if that [injury] wouldn’t have happened,” she said

“I think the break from tennis for me was great. I really enjoyed being home, just doing normal stuff and not being able to hit a ball actually felt nice.

When I felt ready, I came back, and I was enjoying to play out there.”

It seems that taking big breaks from tennis is essential nowadays at pro-level. Food for thoughts for the other players.

… AND SHE LOOKS GREAT AS WELL!
