Lorenzo Musetti will not compete at the ATP 500 Queen’s Club Championships, as recovery from a second‑degree injury to his left thigh continues. The setback, sustained during the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, is similar to the problem he suffered in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open against Novak Djokovic. Spazio Tennis reports that the Italian is now racing against time to be fit for Wimbledon.
Ranking drop and missed opportunities
After withdrawing from Roland Garros, where he was expected to defend his 2025 semifinal run, Musetti slipped to 16th in the ATP rankings. His absence from Queen’s marks another missed chance, as he was a finalist there in 2024 but had already been forced to skip the event last year. That decision led to a rushed return at Wimbledon, where he lost in the opening round to Nikoloz Basilashvili.
Wimbledon hopes uncertain
Musetti is not entered in Eastbourne or Mallorca, leaving Wimbledon as his only possible grass‑court appearance this season. His participation remains uncertain, and there are concerns that history could repeat itself with another premature comeback.
No Italians at Queen’s
Italy will not be represented in the Queen’s draw this year. Luciano Darderi has also withdrawn after undergoing a tonsil operation in Argentina, though his entry for the ATP 250 in Mallorca is still confirmed.
Musetti’s recovery continues to be closely monitored, with his team working to accelerate progress, but the timeline suggests his return may only be possible at Wimbledon if fitness allows.
Lorenzo Musetti in 2026

Now ranked no.16, Lorenzo played his last match on the 12th of May when he lost to world no.14 Casper Ruud 6-3 6-1 in the 4th round in Rome (draw).
This season Musetti achieved a composed 13-7 record. Lorenzo Musetti’s best result of this year was reaching the final in Hong Kong.
