Roger Federer had a rough ride in the Basel quarterfinal to edge Adrian Mannarino in 3 sets. The Swiss legend had an extremely slow start in the opener to drop a decisive service game at the end of the set to lose 6-4; Roger regrouped soon after to win the second set 6-1. Things got thrilling in the decider especially when Roger saved a crucial break point when he was 2-3 down with an unimaginable backhand.

I had an important reaction. FEDERER
Soon after the match, Roger commented
“Today was a battle. I had to dig somehow and fight, and sometimes these wins are more rewarding than just leading from the get-go and dominating throughout and bringing it home. These are better matches to win sometimes, actually. I just had a tough time really getting into it, and he was rock solid, so he deserved that first set, but the reaction from me was really important.”
Next vs. Goffin
Roger will face David Goffin in the semifinal. The head to head is 5-0 for the Swiss that has already defeated David twice in Basel in 2014 and 2015.
