At 38 years of age, Roger Federer is still playing the game of tennis at the highest level and continues to entertain tennis fans with incredible matches. The 20 time Grand Slam champion turned pro in 1998 and has been ranked as the number 1 tennis player many times in his illustrious career. The Swiss tennis player is currently ranked number 3 in the rankings and was recently in action at the recently concluded US Open.

Life on the Road

Federer has spoken about life on the road with his family and what his motivation to keep going. Federer stated that he enjoyed despite the constant travels, he enjoyed spending time with his family everywhere he goes. “I feel like I have had a career before the kids and now my girls are 10 and my boys are five so we kept very busy right now. Priority is the family, we travel with them basically everywhere we go. Kids are the best, I love spending time with them.” Despite a decorated career of having won 20 Grand Slam titles, Federer noted that he still had a desire to play tennis and achieve much more. “I still feel like there is some stuff still to be achieved out there so I will keep going as long as I feel that way,” Federer said.

Mirka and the twins

Federer is married to Mirka Federer. Mirka is a former tennis player from Switzerland. The two met at the 2000 Sydney Olympics while representing team Switzerland. They began dating and got married in April 2009 in Federer’s home town of Basel, Switzerland. They got their first set of twins girls later that year, naming them Myla Rose and Charlene Riva. In 2014 the couple got a second set of twins with twin boys Leo and Lennard being born that year. Federer’s family often travels with him to support him in major tournaments. In 2017, the adorable set of twins caught the attention of the world as the 7-year-old daughters and the 3-year-old sons were caught on screen cheering their dad while dressed in matching twin outfits.

Federer’s schedule

After the US Open, Federer played the Laver Cup and he is now playing in the Shanghai Masters in China. Later on, he will compete at the Swiss Indoors in Basel and possibley in Bercy before the ATP Finals.

Ranked no.3, the Swiss has a 44-7 win-loss record in 2019. Roger is competing in Shanghai where he defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-2 7-65.

The Swiss will square off with Goffin in the 3rd round. The head to head is 9-1 for Federer.

The last time that they competed against each other, Federer won 6-2 6-2 6-0 in the 4th round in Us Open the 01st September 2019.

Federer has won 3 titles in 2019 in Dubai, in Miami and in Halle. Roger was the finalist in Indian Wells and in Wimbledon.
