Roger and Denis were meant to clash in the quarter in Basel, but unfortunately, the Canadian didn’t make it. That didn’t make Roger change his idea about Denis; the world no.2 was extremely straightforward in declaring his admiration for the 18-year-old during a recent interview with Tennis Tv to say
“I like watching Denis. I remember watching him in the juniors at Wimbledon on TV. Then I remember practicing with him a few years back in Toronto.
He had these big shot, great sliding serve and a lot of different types of shot. And I like to see that. I like people who go for it and have a positive demeanor about themselves. Big fan of his and I’m sure we are going to see a lot more of Denis in the future.”
Shapovalov is already world no.49 at just 18 years of age. He will definitely try to break in the top20 starting from next year. Big titles are waiting for the youngster in the years to come.
