Tsonga triumphs in Antwerp

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga conquers his 4th title of the season, the 16th of his career after winning the tournament in Antwerp.

The Frenchman hasn’t dropped a single set during the week after edging a sticky Diego Schwartzman 6-3 7-5 in the final after a 92 minutes’ battle. After winning the first set, Tsonga had to battle hard in the second as Schwartzman managed to recover twice from a 1 break down situation. Eventually, the Frenchman conquered another break in the 11th game to finally win the contest.

I played good tennis this week.

After the match, Jo-Wilfried commented

“I’m feeling good. It’s always good to win tournaments. I played really good tennis this week. I had a very good opponent today. He gave me a hard time. And I played some of my best tennis today on court. It’s really good, really positive for me and I hope I will be able to do something even better in the next week.”

Tsonga ‘s chances to qualify for the Finals

The Frenchman is currently 550 points behind Pablo Carreno Busta to qualify for the Finals in London. Jo-Wilfried will compete in Vienna and Paris. He needs to go deep in both tournaments if he wants to play the last act of the year.
