Roger Federer had a good draw at the home tournament in Basel also because some top players such as Nadal, Wawrinka, Nishikori, Raonic, and Kyrgios will not play (injury).
Seeded no.1, Roger will face Tiafoe (wildcard) in the opener; the Swiss had a hard time against Francis at the recent US Open (he won in 5 sets), but he wasn’t at his best, and he is expected to tame the American again in Basel.
After Tiafoe, Federer should face Johnson or Paire, Mannarino, and Goffin or Sock in the semi-final.
Federer has won the tournament 7 times and he was the runner-up on 5 occasions.
The defending champion is Marin Cilic that this year is seeded no.2
