Pavlyuchenkova wins the title in Hong Kong

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova wins her 3rd title in 2017 after conquering a rather “messy.” Final.

The Russian was opposed to Daria Gavrilova in the final. Anastasia lost the opening set after squandering a 4-1 lead to then win the second and bring the affair to the decider. The third set had a “weird” outcome with 8 consecutive breaks won on both sides. Eventually, Anastasia found the solution in the tiebreak to win this final 5-7 6-3 7-6 (3). There were a whopping 103 unforced errors during the entire match (63 from Pavlyuchenkova).

“It was not easy mentally, as this morning we were not sure if we were going to play or not, and then last night they said we are. It’s the final day, so I knew there is just one match today, so I gave everything I had out there.”

Pavlyuchenkova will now head to Moscow where she has another match on Tuesday. That’s a bit tight!
