Novak Djokovic is not in a great moment right now after he got injured to his left shoulder during the American summer.
Even if the world no.1 got a long period of rest after his sensational Wimbledon title, he wasn’t in good condition in Cincinnati and at the US Open to withdraw from the last slam of the season.
The shoulder injury and the message
Unfortunately, Novak had a hard time in New York because his shoulder issue was giving problems to his serve and backhand. After withdrawing from the US Open, Nole admitted that he had to rest, but he didn’t rule out the possibility to play the Asian Swing.
Novak “disappeared” for a while to regroup with his family. Finally, he sent a message on Twitter to his fans to say:
“Sorry for keeping you guys in the dark these days. I‘m having a wonderful time with my family and actively working on my recovery so I can be ready for the Asian swing. My health is always top priority and as soon as I’m ready, I’ll be back. I’ll keep you posted on my progress and thank you for your wishes for fast recovery!”

Will he play in Tokyo and Shanghai?
The good news is that Nole didn’t shut down the season as some people were thinking. It is still unclear if Novak will make it for the Asian swing. In fact, in the message he is saying that he is working on trying to be fully fit, but that is not a given.
Nole is chasing the year-end world no.1 rank. With Nadal leading him by almost 2000 points in the year to date rankings the only choice for Djokovic to keep the lead in the rankings is to compete and go deep in the important events from now until the end of the year.
The ATP500 in Tokyo will commence on the 30th of September. We might know some more a few days before that date. Novak is doing everything he can to be there as fit as possible.
Novak Djokovic’s ranking and performance in 2019
Now ranked no.1, Djokovic played his last match on the 1st of September when he retired when playing against Stan Wawrinka (6-4 7-5 2-1) in the 4th round in U.S. Open.
This year the Serbian has a 41-8 win-loss record. The Serbian clinched 3 titles in 2019 at the Australian Open, in Madrid and in Wimbledon. Novak was the finalist in Rome.
