Another day, another fantastic performance from Rafael Nadal.
The world no.1 conceded just 5 games to Fabio Fognini to beat the Italian 6-3 6-1. There was no doubt about the outcome of the match from the very beginning since the Spaniard conquered a quick 3-0 lead. After grabbing the first set, Nadal broke Fognini 3 more times in the second to end the formality in just 62 minutes. (see stats)
What Rafa was so happy
Nadal commented “I played a very good match. I don’t know how many mistakes, how many unforced errors, but very few. And I played very well in all aspects. I have been doing things very well. So otherwise, of course, big result, 6-3, 6-1 against a player like him that he can win against Verdasco and Pouille, two good matches, for sure today is a very good result for me, and being in quarterfinals, of course, is great news.”
The Quarters against Dimitrov
The quarters against Dimitrov Rafa will play again against Dimitrov. The world no.1 faced the Bulgarian 1 week ago in the Beijing semi-final where he defeated Dimitrov 6-3 4-6 6-1 after a high-quality match. The overall head to head is 9-1 for Nadal that is definitely the favorite to win the match.
