After winning an improbable match in the second round when he saved 3 consecutive match points in the third set tiebreak against Ryan Harrison, the Bulgarian had a “more normal” win against Sam Querrey in the 3rd round. Grigor won the first set after winning a decisive break in the 4th game (3-1); in the second, he broke the American in the 3rd game soon after he was broken. The affair went to the tiebreak that Dimitrov won at 3. The final score was 6-3 7-6 (3) and the contest ended after 81 minutes.
Next vs. Nadal
Grigor will face Rafael Nadal in the quarters. The head to head is 9-1 to Rafa that has recently beaten the Bulgarian in a high-quality match in Beijing. Let’s see if Grigor can avenge that.
