Outstanding Kyrgios reaches the Beijing final

When Nick Kyrgios is focussed, he can definitely beat anyone.

The Australian sensation was utterly tuned-in ahead of his semi-final in Beijing against the world no.4 Sascha Zverev to beat the German 6-3 7-5  after playing a remarkable tennis.

What happened?

The sensation from the very beginning was that both Kyrgios and Zverev knew that the Australian was “in the match” and the German was completely aware of it to start the contest as the underdog at least from a mental point of view.

Also, Nick did everything he could to play “in the face” of his opponent with his trademark flamboyant tennis. Even if the difference between these 2 was “just” 1 break per set, Kyrgios won 19 points more than Zverev (66 vs. 47) and nick conceded only 10 points on his serve (half of Sascha’s) before winning the encounter in straight sets.

Probably the most iconic point of the match was the first of the second set when Kyrgios performed a “SABN” on a 209 km/h before winning the point in amazing fashion. Zverev looked lost; Kyrgios was completely pumped.

I had a clear game plan. KYRGIOS

Soon after the match, Nick commented

“I’m very happy. It’s always very tough playing Zverev. He’s had a great year and is one of the best players in the world right now. He’s got a massive future ahead of him, but I played really well tonight and knew what my game plan was going to be.

Every match for me is the same. I try to serve big and play big. I treat every match the same and will have a chance to play the final against one of the greatest of all time tomorrow. We’re 2-2, and he’s going to want some revenge from the last time we played. I’m excited. Whatever happens, will happen.”

Next vs. Nadal

Nick will face Nadal in the final. The head to head is 2-2, 1-0 for Nick on hard court that has recently defeated Nadal in Cincinnati.
