Simona Halep new world no.1!

Finally, Simona Halep will be soon crowned as the new world on.1!

The Romanian has been chasing the top world no.1 rank for the entire year, but she was always falling short for whatever reason.

In Beijing, Simona managed to end her chase to the world no.1 after defeating Jelena Ostapenko in the semi-final. The Latvian didn’t bring great memories to Halep after she defeated the Romanian in the French Open final, but this time Simona had an extra gear, and she didn’t miss the opportunity to dismiss Jelena 6-2 6-4. After this win, on Monday, Halep will be crowned as the new world no.1.

The toughest and the best year. HALEP

Simona cried for joy soon after winning the match to then comment

“It was the toughest year but also the best year. At the beginning, it was very tough. I was injured, and I didn’t believe I would even be in Singapore. So being there now and being No.1 today, it’s great. I can say that I forget everything. I just enjoy the moment and take the very happy moments that had this year.”

On Monday, Halep will be the 4th world no.1 of the year of the WTA tour after Angelique Kerber, Karolina Pliskova, and Garbine Muguruza. Now the target is the end the year at the top.

Well done.
