At 27 years of age, Kiki Bertens has enjoyed success in her career. Berten’s has been a constant feature in the WTA tours. Family background: father, mother and bio
Kiki was born on 10th December 1991 in Wateringen, Netherlands. Her parents are Rob Bertens and Dore Bertens. She has two sister’s Joyce and Daisy. Berten’s started playing tennis around age 6 at a tennis club in the Netherlands where her aunt and uncle played. Bertens turned pro in the year 2009. She plays tennis right-handed and is 6ft tall which is around 1.82 meters. She currently resides in Wateringen, Netherlands.
Career achievements and success
After turning pro in 2009, Bertens has gone on to enjoy success in both singles and doubles events. She has won nine singles titles and ten doubles titles in the WTA tours with the highlight being the 2019 Mutua Madrid Open. She also reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon last year. Bertens has also enjoyed success in doubles reaching a WTA final with partner Johanna Larsson in 2017. Her career-best WTA ranking of number four in May this year made her the highest-ranked Dutch female player ever. Currently, she is ranked 8th in the WTA rankings. Her current coach is former Dutch tennis player Raemon Sluiter. She enjoys playing on clay court surfaces where she has been successful. She held the record of most clay court wins in 2016 with 19 victories.
Engagement with boyfriend De Rijke
Bertens is currently engaged to her boyfriend Remko de Rijke. Remko is occupation works as a physiotherapist. Remko proposed in Bali when the couple was on holiday in 2018. Bertens took to social media to show off the ring and express her joy. On her Instagram account Bertens posted a picture of the happy couple posing with the engagement ring and wrote, “I said yes to the love of my life. What a year!! Ring too small, but that doesn’t matter at all!!”
De Rijke is 31 years old. Details on how the couple met are scanty though De Rijke has been involved with Berten’s team as a physiotherapist, fitness coach and hitting partner. The couple is yet to set a marriage date. Bertens will be in action on the WTA tour in Zhenzhou, China.

Ranked no.8, Bertens played her last match on the 31st of August when she had to bow to Julia Goerges 6-2 6-3 in the 3rd round in U.S. Open. This year the Dutch has a 43-18 win-loss record. The Dutch conquered 2 titles in 2019 in St. Petersburg and in Madrid. Bertens was the finalist in Hertogenbosch and in Palermo.
