Nick Kyrgios and Sascha Zverev are about to clash for the 4th time in 2017 making their rivalry to become more and more a classic. The Australian defeated Sascha twice back to back in Indian Wells (6-3 6-4) and Miami (6-4 6-7 6-3), but the German managed to reverse the trend in Montreal (6-4 6-3). They will play the 4th chapter of their rivalry on Saturday. This is how they got to semis.
Kyrgios
With the exception of the first set against Mischa Zverev, Nick had a straightforward ride this week after he defeated Basilshvili 6-1 6-2, Mischa 3-6 6-2 6-2, and he took full advantage of an injured Darcis that retired on a 0-6 0-3 scoreline in the quarters. This means that Nick will be completely fresh ahead of his clash in the semi-final.
Zverev
Sascha had a steady ride in Beijing where he didn’t drop a single set during the entire week following his wins against Edmund (6-3 7-6), Fognini (6-4 6-2), and Rublev (6-2 6-3).
Head to head
Nick and Sascha haven’t played against each other in any match at pro level before this season. Therefore, Kyrgios still leads Zverev 2-1.
