Carlos Alcaraz, at just 20 years old, has emerged as a prodigious talent in the tennis circuit, amassing an impressive tally of achievements. With a record-breaking 12 singles titles, including two Grand Slams and four Masters 1000 titles, Alcaraz has captivated the tennis world’s attention. His exceptional 2023 season, comprising 65 victories out of 77 matches and securing six titles, solidified his reputation as a force to reckon with on the court.
Former World No. 2, Alex Corretja, envisions a promising trajectory for Alcaraz in the forthcoming 2024 season. Corretja believes that claiming a Grand Slam title would mark a pinnacle achievement for the current World No. 2, singling out the French Open as a significant goal. Notably, he anticipates Alcaraz approaching the tournament differently following his previous experience battling cramps against Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, demonstrating maturity and growth in his approach to major tournaments.
Expressing unwavering confidence in Alcaraz’s potential, Corretja highlights the Spaniard’s ability to conquer Grand Slams and Masters 1000 events on various surfaces. He attributes this prediction to Alcaraz’s playing style, ambition, and resilient character, identifying him as destined for tennis greatness.
“I’ve said it a long time ago, I think Alcaraz is going to win all the Grand Slams on all surfaces, even the Masters. I think he is going to be a player who is going to win all the titles practically possible and it is because of the way he plays, his ambition, and his character. I think his tennis is very high. So it seems to me that Alcaraz is destined to be one of the special ones,” Corretja commented.
As Alcaraz gears up for the 2024 season, commencing with the Australian Open, his determination to build on past performances shines through. His absence from last year’s Melbourne Major due to injury underscores his eagerness to make a resounding impact this time. Alcaraz’s consistent progression in the Australian Open, from his debut in 2021 to reaching the third round in 2022, positions him as a rising star set to etch a significant legacy in the realm of professional tennis.
