What a weekend for the Belgian tennis!
On the men’s side, they have managed to reach the Davis Cup final; on the women’s one, Alison Van Uytvanck wins her maiden title in Quebec City.
Ranked no.98, Alison was eager to scale back the rankings (her career high is 41), and everything commenced from Canada where she won her first career title (WTA) against Timea Babos from Hungary.
Alison had to fight hard especially in the first part of the match after she split the first 2 sets against Timea that was the clear favorite not only for her rank (she was no.63) but also for the fact that this was already her 5th final while the Belgian was completely inexperienced in this aspect.
Eventually, everything was decided in the 3rd set when Alison conquered a decisive 4-0 lead before winning the contest 5-7 6-4 6-1.
