We had fantastic news on Friday after it was announced that Serena Williams gave birth to a baby girl. Unfortunately, Venus wasn’t able to stay with her beloved sister during this important moment as she was competing at the US Open and she really had to keep her focus after getting the news ahead of her 3rd round match. Eventually, Venus defeated Maria Sakkari 6-3 6-4, but after the encounter, her thoughts are 100% with her sister.
Just before her match, Venus said: “I am super excited, and of course it’s hard to describe.”
During the press-conference, Venus wanted to keep the privacy, and she refused to answer any question related to Serena’s baby.
Venus will play Carla Suarez Navarro for a place in the quarters. She must keep her focus on her next match if she wants to have a deep run.
