Thiem: “Zverer and me are not the next big thing, yet”

Dominic Thiem is just 23 years old, and he has won already 8 titles, but he feels that he needs to do more to be labeled as the “next big thing” along with his great friend Sascha Zverev.

We are not there yet. THIEM

During a recent interview in Washington, Dominic commented

“We [Dominic and Sascha] still have to win a lot of matches to deserve to be called the next big things in tennis. It’s nice to hear that, but I think it’s still a pretty long ways for both of us.”

… and about the Big4

Talking about the big 4, Dominic added

“They are really special. It’s very unusual you have four players like this in one generation.

I think it’s getting a little better for the other players. They are starting to take a few tournaments. In the Grand Slams, you would have to beat two or three (of them) in a run. That’s why other players haven’t won the big titles.”

Dominic is the seed no.1 in Washington where he will face Henri Laaksonen in the opener.
