Cilic excited to be in the Wimbledon final

Marin Cilic is definitely playing one of the best tennis of his great career.

The Croat edged a good Sam Querrey in the Wimbledon semi-final 6-7 (6) 6-4 7-6 (3) 7-5 after he was always on top even if the scoreline was pretty tight.

The first set went straight to the breaker as both players managed to hold serve mostly at love or 15. The difference in the tie-break was just that Cilic missed a couple of backhand at the end to give the opener to the American. Then, Marin won the second set after conquering the decisive break in the 7th game (4-3). In the third set, Cilic broke Querrey in the 3rd game (2-1) to be broken soon after (2-2); the affair went once again to the breaker, and it was the Croat to win this time at 3. Querrey conquered a 4-2 led in the 4th set, but eventually, Cilic managed to break the American another couple of time to win the match 6-7 (6) 6-4 7-6 (3) 7-5.

It would be a dream to win Wimbledon. CILIC

In the press conference, Marin commented

“It’s definitely great for me to be in the final of a Grand Slam again.

I felt that my level of tennis in the past several weeks is really on a high level, and that has given me a lot of consistency with my mindset. Obviously, it’s going to be a big match for me. But it’s a great thing that I have already played one Grand Slam final, and I believe it’s going to be easier to prepare.

It would mean absolutely a world to me [to win]. I feel that when I won the US Open in ’14, it just opened so many possibilities in my mind for the rest of my career. To be able to do it again would definitely mean, I would say, even more, because I know how much it meant for me to win that first one. It would be absolutely a dream come true to win Wimbledon here.”

The final vs. Federer

Marin will face Roger Federer in the final. The head to head is 6-1 for Roger, but Marin was very close to beat the Swiss in the last year’s Wimbledon quarter when he was leading the Swiss 2 sets up before losing in 5.
