Kyrgios retires from Queens. He should play in Wimbledon

Nick Kyrgios was eager to go back on tour after a horrible clay court season. The first stop was the prestigious ATP500 at the Queen’s Club, but that went badly.

The Australian started the 1st round against Donald Young with a flashy bandage on his right knee, but eventually, that wasn’t the big problem. When the match was on a 4-all scoreline, Nick took a rather bad fall to injure his left hip. Kyrgios asked for a medical time-out, but he was clearly struggling with his movements, and he decided to retire after he lost the first set at the breaker.

I will play in Wimbledon. KYRGIOS

Nick has always stated that Wimbledon is his favorite slam and the one he has most of the chances to win. Therefore, it would be too bad for him to miss it.

The Australian commented

“I’d play Wimbledon if I was injured pretty bad, anyway. I’m here, anyway. I don’t really have time to go home or anything. I will be playing, for sure. My main goal is to play well at Wimbledon. I’m going to try and get it better and rehab it, and hopefully, it settles down. I’m sure it will. There is no point of playing on if I’m feeling pain in my hip.”

Something is not right with his preparation.

THAT WAS NASTY!
