Nadal not fit for playing Queens, regarding Wimbledon…

Rafael Nadal had a triumphant stint on clay after he won Monte-Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid and the Roland Garros.

The Spanish legend was meant to get back on court at the prestigious event at Queen’s, but eventually he said that the doctors advised him not play.

Rafa explained why he took this decision

“I am very sorry to say that I am not going to be able to play Queen’s next week. I was hoping to take some days off and then be ready. But, at 31, and after a long clay-court season with all of the emotions of Roland Garros, and after speaking to my team and doctor, I have decided my body needs to rest if I am going to be ready to play Wimbledon.

I am sad to make this decision because I love Queen’s. I won the tournament in 2008 and every time I reached the Wimbledon final it was after playing Queen’s.”

What about Wimbledon?

Apparently, Rafa is not suffering from any injury, but as he said playing at Queen’s has always helped him to have a good run at Wimbledon.

Let’s hope he will still play at the Championships, but at this point and after the results he had during the clay court season it could be plausible that he will get an extended break as Federer has just done to be ready for the American swing.

In addition, Rafa has no points to defend at Wimbledon and he hasn’t enjoyed a fantastic run in the last few years. Nadal has lost to Dustin Brown in the 2nd round in 2015, to Kyrgios in the 4th round in 2014, and to Darcis in the 1st round in 2013.

Finally, Rafa also loves taking his holidays in Mallorca during the summertime. So, he may spend some time on his boat to enjoy his family and friends.
