
Lorenzo Musetti has officially confirmed that Spanish coach José Perlas will be part of his team starting in 2026. The Italian shared the news on Instagram with a photo alongside Simone Tartarini, Damiano Fiorucci, and Perlas, writing: “Let’s start preparing for 2026. Welcome José 💪.”
A rising career
Musetti enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2025, reaching a career-high ranking of world No. 8. His strong clay-court performances included a final in Monte-Carlo and semifinals in Madrid, Rome, and Roland Garros. He also qualified for the ATP Finals for the first time, confirming his place among the sport’s rising stars.
José Perlas’ experience
Perlas brings decades of coaching expertise, having guided Carlos Moya, Albert Costa, Guillermo Coria, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Nicolas Almagro, Janko Tipsarevic, and Fabio Fognini. Most recently, he worked with Serbian player Dusan Lajovic.
Strategic partnership
The addition of Perlas is seen as a move to elevate Musetti’s game further. Known for his ability to refine players’ consistency and tactical approach, Perlas will complement Tartarini’s long-standing role in Musetti’s career.
With Perlas joining the team, Musetti is positioning himself for a stronger push in 2026. His ambition to challenge for Grand Slam victories and maintain a top-10 ranking will be supported by a coaching staff that blends continuity with fresh expertise.

LLWLWWWLLW At the moment ranked no.8, Lorenzo played his last match on the 13th of November when he lost to world no.1 Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 6-1 in the round robin in the Nitto ATP Finals (draw).
Until now, during this year the Italian achieved a compiled 45-22 match record. Lorenzo Musetti’s most significant result of the current season was getting to the final in Monte Carlo, Chengdu and Athens.
He is also scheduled to play in Hong Kong (Hong Kong Tennis Open). The main draw will start on the 30th of December.
