Genie Bouchard wins her first match in Madrid after defeating Alize Cornet in 3 sets, but the big thing is that in the second round she is meant to face Maria Sharapova.

The Canadian wasted a 1 set and a break up lead three times in the second set against the Frenchwoman in Spain. Eventually, Genie had to play the third set, and she was perfect after losing the first game (0-1) to win the next 6. The final result was 6-4 4-6 6-1.
