Daniil Medvedev won a fantastic title in Cincinnati beating an in-form David Goffin in straight sets. 7-6 7-5.
However, it didn’t go unnoticed to the tennis fans the big support that Daniil Medvedev received from his young wife Daria from the player’s box.
The new Russian sensation married very young to his girlfriend after dating for 4 years. Daria is now part of Daniil team as she travels with him all over the world. Recently the new world no.5 credited Daria for his stellar ascent in the rankings.
I am going to be in bed 24 hours a day
The Russian was totally spent after the final as he played 16 matches in 20 days after reaching the finals in Washington and Montreal before winning the title in Cincinnati.
Daniil commented: “I need some days off. I’ve been playing tennis for so long in a row. I just need to stay in bed for a few days watching the TV 24 hours a day.”
Can Medvedev win the US Open?
After his fantastic run in North America, Daniil will be seeded no.5 in the last slam of the season where he is going to be one of the favorites also according to Novak Djokovic that commented:
“[Daniil] deserves to be in the mix, certainly, with all his results. He’s working his way to top 5 of the world. He’s definitely one of the best players in the world at this moment. He deserves to be in the contention for the championship in New York. But again, it’s best of five. It’s for two weeks.”
