Konta extremely close to world no.1 if…

Johanna Konta has surprised again after being the first British woman to have reached the final in Miami. The Brit has defeated home favorite Venus Williams in the semi-final, and if she beats Caroline Wozniacki in the final, she can get very close to the top of the rankings (YTD).

How she can get so close to the top.

In the year to date rankings, Johanna is now no.9, but if she wins Miami, she will get 1000 points. That means that she will be just 76 points shy from Karolina Pliskova that would become the new world no.1 (Road to Singapore rankings).

The more the year goes on, the more the Year to Date rankings become close to the “traditional” rankings. Therefore, Jo has a real shot at the very top. Before that, she needs to triumph in Florida.

Game on.
